Breast Implants and Breast Augmentation Stories from our Visitors

If you have already read Nicole's Story, you have a pretty good idea what this section of the website is all about. After several women emailed their breast augmentation stories to us, we thought it would be great to have women share their full-length recovery stories after their breast implant surgeries for everyone's benefit. Thankfully, many women have contributed, some in more detail than others.

Here are the stories of our visitors. Many names have been changed for privacy. Where appropriate, there is detail in parentheses so you can decide if you are interested. Click on a name to read.

Breast Augmentation in North Carolina

I had a breast augmentation on February 8th.

This is something I've wanted since I've been 19 years old. I am now 25 years old and finally did my surgery. I lost a lot of weight from high school to mid college and lost all of my breast size with it. Before the weight lost i was a small c, then after weight loss I was a b. I am very curvaceous and it didn't look right with my figure.

I have many friends and family members who have gotten breast augmentation and all different sizes and was impressed by all of their results.

I got married and then moved to North Carolina. I am a registered nurse and heard a lot of good things about the particular surgeon I chose via other physicians comments. Went for my initial consultation in November, and felt very comfortable with my doctor. I find this extremely important when choosing a surgeon! He had me buy a specific sports bra for trying the implants on and for using that after surgery. My doctor said that i had "tubular breasts" and would have to disrupt my natural breast tissue once he is doing the surgery to have the implant mesh with my tissue since i was so small in size.

At first I was very conservative on size choice and just wanted something average that would look very normal "on me." then I went alone and tried more of the different filled implants and decided to go bigger. So, I then make an appointment to see the doctor regarding my new decision on going bigger. He agreed and would look very nice with my shape of my lower half and would balance everything out. I had a total of 4 visits with the doctor before surgery. I saw his portfolio of pictures and was very impressed with everyone's outcomes from breast augmentation.

I'd say about 5 days before surgery I was getting slightly nervous since i have never had "major" surgery before. Then the day "of" surgery I was very calm surprisingly. My husband and mother in law came with me to the surgery center.

I was greeted by the RN, took my vital signs, and signed my consent. Doctor came in and made his markings on my chest. He did his assessment prior to going into the surgical room. Anesthesiologist came to talk to me regarding his part in surgery. He used something called m.a.c [monitor anesthesia care]. This does not require intubations, and is easier on the stomach for those who are sensitive to nausea.

Since this is the strongest type of conscious sedation, it did take me quite a bit to wake up on my own. I did not have any nausea thank goodness! But, for the rest of the day when I tried to eat I would throw everything up. The next day was a lot better since the anesthesia was out of my system. I was put on Percocet every 4 hours as needed for pain. This just made me sleepy, and didn't really relieve very much pain. I was also on antibiotic twice a day for 1 week.

Post-op day one was good in the sense that I can keep food down. But, I was so sore it felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest. Went to the doctor and he checked everything out. Had bruising more on my right then my left. I was able to take my first whole body shower on Saturday 3 days post-op. That was quite interesting~ had to have some friends help me out with that, and to dry my hair.

Post-op day 6 I was able to move around a little bit better and lift my arms a little more. Post op day 8 went for my doctor's visit and was quite impressed for one week post-op. Still have numbness from nipple line down, and hypersensitivity to my nipples. I need to massage my breasts 10-20 a day, and must go braless for one month to have them drop and get their shape.

Day 5 I felt this unusual sensation, and heard funny sounds coming from my breasts anytime I moved them or just walking. I got very paranoid about it. Then when I asked the doctor about it he said it is normal since it's a foreign object in my body-it's rubbing against my tissue and muscle. This is something that goes away with time and is nothing serious. I actually found this information on ImplantInfo by Nicole, and felt so relieved that I was not the only one who has experienced this.

Day 10 I was able to do normal "every day things" except for anything heavier than 10 pounds. I am able to blow-dry my hair and that after 45 min's becomes heavy. They are a lot softer with some slight swelling and some minor bruising to my right breast. I am only wearing tank-tops with the built in bra underneath my tops. I am thoroughly satisfied with my doctors job and highly recommend him to anyone. I just can't wait until I'm back to my normal self, able to wear a bra and show my stuff off!
